New Stator !

I never realized how beautiful a new stator looked. Once I finish my coffee and the rest of the world wakes up, I have to head down to the hardware store for some thread locker for those three bolts holding that pretty little thing in place. I'll probably put it on all the screws. Me paranoid about them coming off.

I can't wait to get started on this! It got here almost instantly from E-Bay. The stator should be getting here soon as well.

Kawasaki Vulcan Project

I ordered a new stator and a used wiring harness off of E-Bay. They should be here soon. In the meantime I took out the old stator and re-checked it (ohmed the windings). I also repaired a small crack in the cover with JB Weld steel epoxy. It seems fine but if I can get another used cover I will. I also ohmed out those little magnetic doo dads on the left and got the same reading for each one so they're probably swell. I'll check the readings with the manual so calm down!

Vulcan Project contiuned

This is why I'm leaning toward a "new" harness. Most of the connectors are loaded with corrosion. The stator ohms out to be no good according to the manual, so I'll be ordering one of those soon. I'm looking on E-Bay for the harness.

New Spring Project: 1998 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500

My brother-in-law just gave me this! A 1998 Kawasaki Vulcan. So far, all it looks like it needs is a stator and probably a wiring harness. I'm looking forward to getting this beast running and on the road.

Al Swearengen: Deadwood

I bought some cool magnifying glasses off of Amazon and I'm able to see a lot more detail.  Now I need to find some tiny sculpting tools to try and clean it up. I need to finish this soon because I can feel my ADD kicking in on this project. I might just chuck it in the snow and move on to something else.

Deadwood's Al Swearengen

I'm still working on it! To get more into the character I've started to drink whisky while I work. He's starting to become real good company on a Friday night. If only you could be a fly on the wall when me an him get going. I think he wants me to make a George "The Animal" Steele sculpture next.

Al Swearengen

I had two glasses of whisky with him last night while working on his clothes. The plan is to have him holding his own drink. This way I don't have to drink alone.

The Beard Token

When I first heard of the existence of a Beard Token I knew I needed one.  What it symbolized needed no explaining. What it means is irrelevant to you if you don't already know. If you are one of the "Chosen", you know its meaning without being told. If you have to ask, you may never know. Men will understand.  The kind of Man who stands out in a snowstorm rubbing snow on his bare chest, laughing up at the sky just for the pure joy and amazement of being alive will understand. Bearded men who live life with the gusto of the vikings, they get it. The time of the Beard Token has arrived my friends.
